From The Sidelines
(Maximum Sports Channels – PDL
) To say I am dragging my ass is an understatement with all the sports that have been happening these last ten days. The MSC crew recorded the Lake Alfred US Title Series Powerboat Racing Championship
in Lake Alfred Florida, recorded the footage for WaterDemons
, the soon to be released show about Powerboat Racing, got ready for the Manny and Floyd Fight of the Century, the Kentucky Oaks
and the Kentucky Derby
getting to 660 Home Runs (he may eclipse Willie Mays
mark by the time this writing gets published), the Yankees not planning on paying A-Rod the Bonus for achieving the feat, the NBA
quietly squeezes out its early playoff rounds and the NH
L does the same. And let’s not forget the lunacy of NFL Draft Day
. Deep breath !!!
The trip to Florida was eventful and the recording was extraordinary. The post-production is going to be tome consuming but worth it (we think). The nice thing about it was that the Maximum Sports Channels Sponsored boat, captured the 500cc Hydro race with Jimmy Wright firing across the line at around 110 mph. It was good to see the USTS crews again, having been with then two years ago recording most of their racing circuit. Amy Nydhal edged out her brother Curtis for the 125cc Hydro, you can get the other race results over at US Title Series website.
The Fight of the Century between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather has been in the making for years. Mayweather won with the judges scoring the fight 118-110, 116-112, 116-112. The consensus was that it was the correct decision. The wall Mayweather put up neutralized Pacquiao’s flurries providing Mayweather with the opportunity to point him to death.
The first leg of Horse Racing’s Triple Crown arrived in Kentucky with at least 7 horses contending for the $2,000,000 purse. American Pharoah, Dortmund, Carpe Diem, Materiality, Frosted, Firing Line and Mubtaahij all looked to be in the mix for the 141st running of the race. Scratches of El Kabier and the Ramsey horse International Star added to the tension. The Ramsey’s pulled 3 horses from the Turf Classic which added a buzz to the racing program with Ken Ramsey saying that the issue was between him and trainer Chad Brown, now this should be getting interesting … Horse Racing, never a dull moment. American Pharoah won the Kentucky Derby squeezing in a length in front of Firing Line with Dortmund and Frosted closing in as the wire was crossed. Victor Espinosa won the Derby back to back having ridden California Chrome to the win last year. With the craziness happening in Baltimore, it should make the Preakness an adventure in a couple of weeks. Deep Breath !!!
The NBA and NHL wrapped up their regular season play and started the playoffs. Over the course of the next 2 months we will finally discover who survived the long days journey into night, as we wait to see who takes the NBA Championship and the Stanley Cup.
And finally, A-Rod hit number 660, tying Willie Mays on the Home Run list. The deal between the NY Yankees basically was if he surpasses Mays there was a $6 Million Dollar Bonus in it for him. But somewhere in the fine print the Yankees seem to be backing out of the agreement. A-Rod is locked into the Yankees until 2017, and it seems likely that he will get to the 700 club by then. Passing Hank Aaron (755) and/or Barry Bonds (762) seem less likely but passing the ‘Babe’ (714) looks possible.
I’d say something about the NFL Draft Day but I think I need a break, besides it was somewhat predictable minus the fanfare and the mock drafts.
