Phils Fantasy Sports
(Maximum Sports Channels – Phil Naessens
) There is 14 games on the main MLB
slate at FanDuel
tonight. We have Coors Field to deal with tonight as well as a couple of other possible high scoring games. Rain is in the forecast in both Cincinnati and Denver so you might want to check this site prior to lineup lock to see if the players from that game are actually playing tonight.

Starting Pitching for Tuesday
We have some extremely high priced starters in risky matchups tonight but we also have a couple of mid-tier arms with better opportunities that I am considering for the main slate at FanDuel.
Arizona Diamondbacks SP Robbie Ray ($8600) has a decent opportunity tonight at home against a Detroit Tigers offense with a 23 percent strikeout rate, wOBA of .298 and wRC+ of 88 against left handed pitchers this season. In 17.2 innings pitched at home Ray is striking out 28 percent of the hitters he’s faced with a 3.30 xFIP, 1.53 bombs per nine innings and a 3.38 SIERA.
Houston Astros SP Charlie Morton ($7800) has a good opportunity tonight at home against an Atlanta Braves offense with a 19 percent strikeout rate, wOBA of .318 and wRC+ of 93 against right handed pitchers this season. In 24 innings pitched at home this season Morton is striking out 27 percent of the hitters he’s faced with a 3.12 xFIP, 1.13 bombs per nine innings and 3.24 SIERA.
Tampa Bay Rays SP Matt Andriese ($7400) has a good opportunity tonight against a Kansas City Royals offense with a 20 percent strikeout rate, wOBA of .278 and wRC+ of 72 against right handed pitching this season. In 22 innings pitched at home this season Andriese is striking out 22 percent of the hitters he’s faced with a 3.48 xFIP, 4.17 SIERA and 1.54 bombs per nine innings pitched.
Stacking Opportunities for Tonight
Obviously there will be plenty of opportunities in the Coors Field game tonight and you could probably find a couple of stacks in the game at Chase Field. However I have three stacking possibilities tonight that might fly under the radar.
The Minnesota Twins have been pounding right handed pitching this season to the tune of a .341 wOBA and wRC+ of 118. Tonight they face White Sox SP Mike Pelfrey so I would use Miguel Sano ($3600), Max Kepler ($3100), Eddie Rosario ($2600) and Brian Dozier ($4100) if he plays tonight.
The Washington Nationals are number two in baseball against right handers and they have a nice opportunity tonight against the Orioles Ubaldo Jimenez. Bats I’m interested in are Bryce Harper ($5000), Ryan Zimmerman ($4500), Daniel Murphy ($4200) and Jayson Werth ($3200) tonight. If you are looking for less inexpensive exposure to the Nationals you could also go with Matt Wieters ($2800), Anthony Rendon ($3400) and Michael Taylor ($2800).
The Houston Astros are another team that is clobbering right handed pitching this season with a .344 wOBA and wRC+ of 125 and have a good opportunity at home tonight against Braves righty Bartolo Colon. You could probably use all the Astros but the bats I like tonight are Marwin Gonzalez ($3300), Yuli Gurriel ($2600), Brian McCann ($3300), Carlos Correa ($3700) and Jose Altuve ($3900) are the biggest bats against righties so far this season. I would also consider Josh Reddick ($3100) tonight.
Phil’s Top Three Picks for Tonight
Boston Red Sox OF Andrew Benintendi ($4100) has a good opportunity tonight against Milwaukee Brewers righty Wily Peralta and his 37 percent fly ball rate and 2.31 bombs per nine innings he’s allowed to left handed hitters. Benintendi has a .206 ISO, .393 wOBA and wRC+ of 151 with three bombs at home against right handed pitchers.
St Louis Cardinals 1B Matt Carpenter ($4400) has a good opportunity tonight against the Marlins Dan Straily and his 47.1 percent fly ball rate and 1.35 bombs per nine innings allowed to left handed hitters. Carpenter has a .444 ISO, wOBA of .507 and wRC+ of 215 with five bombs against right handed pitchers on the road this season.
Milwaukee Brewers OF Ryan Braun ($3700) has a good opportunity tonight against Red Sox lefty Drew Pomeranz and his 35 percent fly ball rate and 1.56 bombs per nine innings to right handed hitters. The sample size is small (10 plate appearances) but Braun has a .222 ISO, .496 wOBA and wRC+ of 204 with zero bombs on the road against lefties this season.
