Redskins to stick with Keenum, no switch mulled

Redskins coach Jay Gruden says he will stick with Case Keenum at quarterback despite his struggles and a third straight loss to open the season.

Mitchell Trubisky: Throws three touchdowns in win

Mitchell Trubisky: Trubisky completed 25 of 31 passes for 231 yards, three touchdowns and an interception in Monday night’s 31-15 win over the Redskins.

Trubisky explodes for 3 TDs after 0 in 1st 2 weeks

Mitchell Trubisky took advantage of a struggling Redskins defense on Monday, throwing three touchdowns in the first half.

Case Keenum isn’t the answer for Washington, but Dwayne Haskins’ time isn’t here yet

A QB, or even coaching change, could be coming soon. But turning from Keenum to Haskins won’t stop defensive lapses and other issues.

NFL Week 4 WR/CB Matchups: Will Amari Cooper Dominate Marshon Lattimore?

Football is a team sport comprised of individual matchups, the most important of which might be the matchup between wide receivers and cornerbacks.

In this piece, I leverage snap data from Pro Football Focus to project NFL Week 4 WR/CB matchups.

For more on the WR/CB duels, see the FantasyLabs Matchups page, where we provide all sorts of basic and advanced data — including fantasy and red-zone performance — for each offensive skill-position player based on his matchup.

Also consult our Week 4 injury report for status updates on receivers and corners.

WR/CB Matchup of the Week: Amari Cooper vs. Marshon Lattimore

When the Cowboys hosted the Saints last season in Week 13, Lattimore tailed Cooper on an outrageous 91.2% of his routes. I expect Cooper to get the Lattimore shadow treatment again this week.

It’s somewhat hard to say who won their matchup last year.

Cooper caught all seven of his targets against Lattimore for a 7-66-0 receiving performance. In total, he was 8-76-0 receiving on eight targets.

If a guy leads his team in targets and converts all of them into receptions, it’s hard to say that he didn’t win his matchup.

On top of that, when the Saints were down by a field goal within the two-minute warning and needed a stop, Cooper drew a pass interference from Lattimore on an end-zone target that likely would have been a touchdown if not for the penalty.

That effectively ended the game.

So Cooper, at first glance, looks like the clear winner.

McVay: Gurley not on load management program

Despite seeing a significant drop off in both snaps and production so far this season, star running back Todd Gurley is not on a load management program, according to Sean McVay.

Eagles WR Agholor invites critical fan to game

Former firefighter Hakim Laws referenced the Eagles’ loss Sunday to the Lions — and Nelson Agholor’s role in it — moments after Laws was involved in a fire rescue Monday morning. The receiver responded by inviting him to Philadelphia’s next home game.

Koerner’s Top Fantasy Football Streaming Targets for Week 4: QB, TE, Kicker & Defense

Don’t underestimate the value of streaming in fantasy.

Streaming quarterbacks, kickers and defenses each week allows you to take advantage of the best available options. And if you missed out on a high-caliber tight end in drafts, you can even stream that position with some success.

Each week I highlight the best streaming options at all four of those positions. Here’s how those recommendations would rank with each position through three weeks:

  • Quarterback: QB7 (69.1 points)
  • Tight End: TE27 (11.7 points)
  • Kicker: K3 (33 points)
  • Defense: DEF2 (41 points)

Now let’s dig into my top fantasy streaming options at QB, tight end, kicker and defense for Week 4.

Note: All ownership data via Yahoo Fantasy and as of Monday.

Best Fantasy Streaming Options: Week 4

QB: Daniel Jones, Giants

Matchup: vs. Redskins
Ownership: 17%

Jones began his career off with a bang.

He flashed his passing skills with a 336/2/0 line through the air and 4/28/2 on the ground. There’s a pretty good chance he will be added with the sole purpose of keeping him the rest of the season, so this is much less a “streamer” play as it is a long-term waiver wire add.

Seahawks ‘believe in’ RB Carson despite fumbles

Seahawks coach Pete Carroll gave running back Chris Carson a vote of confidence in the wake of his three lost fumbles in as many games to start the season.

Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Pickups for Week 4: Players to Add Before First Byes

In-season management can be the difference between a fantasy championship and … not.

So who are the top waiver wire pickups heading into Week 4, with the first set of teams (Jets and 49ers) on bye?

Let’s take a closer look at three running backs, five wide receivers and three tight ends worth consideration as well as quarterbacks to stream.

Note: We’ve limited their recommendations to players owned in fewer than 50% of Yahoo leagues. All data as of Monday.

Week 4 Waiver Wire Pickups

Running Backs

Rex Burkhead, Patriots

Ownership: 24%

Burkhead greatly benefitted from James White’s absence (birth of his child), but is a significant part of this Patriots offense and should be considered a weekly Flex play.

He had six receptions on seven targets and led the team with 11 rush attempts, 47 rushing yards and a touchdown.

Alexander Mattison, Vikings

Ownership: 20%

Mattison needs to be on every fantasy owner’s “watch” list. If the league’s rushing leader Dalvin Cook gets hurt, Mattison immediately becomes an RB1.

In the Vikings’ 34-14 blowout win, Mattison stood out in garbage time with 58 rushing yards and a touchdown.
