Heart to Heart, a two-time Grade 1 winner on the turf, has been retired from racing with stud plans pending, Daily Racing Form reports.

The 8-year-old English Channel horse will reside at Hidden Brook Farm in Paris, Ky., while decisions to begin his stallion career are finalized. He gained popularity among racing fans for the unique heart-shaped marking on his face, which inspired his name.

Heart to Heart retired with 15 wins in 41 starts, earning $2,035,090 for owner Terry Hamilton and trainer Brian Lynch. The Ontario-bred began his racing career primarily in his native province, placing in a couple stakes races and running in the 2014 Queen's Plate, before winning the Better Talk Now Stakes at Saratoga in his U.S. stakes debut, then following up with wins in the Grade 3 Jefferson Cup Stakes and Commonwealth Turf Stakes, both at Churchill Downs.

Graded stakes competition became Heart to Heart's regular domain after that run of stakes success, with later campaigns seeing wins in the G2 Ft. Lauderdale Stakes and Bernard Baruch Handicap, and the G3 Oceanport Stakes, River City Handicap, Knickerbocker Stakes, and two runnings of the Canadian Turf Stakes.

Heart to Heart earned his two Grade 1 victories at age seven, taking the G1 Gulfstream Park Turf Stakes and Maker's 46 Mile Stakes in back-to-back efforts.

Heart to Heart is out of the winning Silver Deputy mare Ask the Question. Grade 1 winner Chart the Stars is in his extended family.
