From The Sidelines
(Maximum Sports Channels – Tony Samboras
) If is only a few days away from Ultimate Fighting Championships
main event and a lot of experts are making UFC 199
predictions. With Chris Weidman out due to injury, the replacement is British Mixed Martial Artist and veteran of the sports Michael Bisping
. Luke Rockhold
is a huge betting favorite going into the matchup being the champion and having a full training camp against Bisping’s two weeks to prepare.
Sadly we are going to have to wait longer for the grudge match between Wiedman and Rockhold. It was a fight most UFC fans were looking forward to and would have been a closely fought contest. I think that Rockhold would of come out again on top, but the first battle was close. If Weidman had not attempted a stupid kick that led him been taken down for some brutal ground and pound, things might have been different.
Bisping should not be underestimated, he takes the game of Mixed Martial Arts very seriously and is constantly in shape. He may not be in his prime shape as an athlete due to the short notice, but my UFC 199 expert fight picks have him winning by decision. Bisping is one of the best boxers in the division, and if he can avoid Rockholds dangerous kicks and takedowns, he stands a good chance of an upset.
Striking Match Up
Rockhold may have the longer reach advantage, but he is not as a skilled boxer as Bisping. The British star prefers having a longer range though as he can then make good use of his powerful jab. Bisping may have to make this into a dirty boxing match and use his grappling advantage over Rockhold to gain the advantage. If he stays at a distance, Rockhold can use his powerful kicks to good effect and drain Bisping’s stamina.
Bisping showed in his last fight against Anderson Silva that he can outbox the best. Rockhold tends to have his hand down frequently in a fight and is vulnerable to been punched when a fighter slips inside his defense. Bisping is an expert at this, and if he can find his range early on, it could make for a tough evening for Rockhold.
Grappling: Match Up
Bisping is a top level Brazilian jiu-jitsu practitioner and has an excellent guard when he is on his back. Rockhold though is one of the best, and if it goes to the ground, the champ should retain the belt. Bisping’s advantage is in the clinch; he needs to get Rockhold up against the cage and hit him with some fierce. As long as he can defend the takedown, this should be a big part of what decides the result.
UFC 199 predictions
The underdog seems to be winning so many of the main card events. You just need to look at the recent main cards and the betting underdog has won. Rousey lost against Holm, and McGregor lost against Diaz and Tate beat Holm to win the title. Who is to say that this one will be any different, that is why my UFC 199 expert fight picks are for Bisping to win by decision.
