Field View

(Maximum Sports Channels – Carlos Ortega) Welcome to Field View. This week we will be reporting on lots of action in the world of soccer and as usually we will talk about the best matches played. So let’s get started !!!

Manchester United vs Southampton 1-1 (Premiership): Carrick did good today, it was not his fault that Fellaini was atrocious and he had to cover for Giggs while dealing with an impressive Wanyama and Schneiderlin. Rooney played poorly. When you take off an attacking threat and replace him with a defender, you are sending all the wrong signals and it encourages the other team to have a go at you, and that is what the Saints did.

Rafael‘s crossing was poor, he needs to work on that in training. Nani along with Adnan was their main creative window, taking him off and replacing him with Giggs was a weak decision. Manchester United is in serious trouble, something is wrong. Adnan Nani’s and Evans performance was the only bright spark. Moyes has a ton of issues to deal with and he isn’t learning from his mistakes.
It was a very frustrating game, I expected more from Manchester United.

Real Madrid vs Malaga 2-0 (La Liga): Good game for Real, they dominated the whole game. Quite ironic that their goals were from a lucky cross and a dive from Bale. But really, this Madrid looked so much better from the last few games. I was very pleased with Madrid’s performance. They looked hungry for victory and fought for every ball. Very few mistakes were made and for the most part, the team clicked well as a team and passed the ball with accuracy. Pepe needs to get a hair cut again because it is affecting his performance, as of late. Di Maria should be a starter. Bale is slowly but surely getting back to form. Morata should be a starter and Benzema needs to sit on the bench for the time being. Malaga was awful, apart from their offside traps and Caballero, they did not do anything at all. Caballero is the whole team. the attack/midfield cannot even string together 2 passes. Malaga is the weakest team in La Liga.

Arsenal vs Borussia Dortmund 1-2 (UEFA Champions League): The best team won. Great intensity from Dortmund causing all kinds of forced errors for Arsenal. Arsenal had the better second half and looked more likely to score, but caught on a great counter, and Dortmund more than professional enough to hold the lead. The difference in the game was Ramsey making a huge error and Arteta being too slow. He was practically sitting in Kos and Per‘s lap because he wanted to be committed to staying back but knew he didn’t have the pace to actually play where a DM should be positioned. Basically, he could not occupy any space farther up the pitch, it gave Dortmund all kinds of space in the midfield to attack. Not much between the teams, but the better team on this day, won.

AC Milan vs Barcelona 1-1 (UEFA Champions League): Barcelona entire game is way too slow. Neymar cannot be effective in this system with the ball heading back to Valdes direction most of the time. Barcelona played the ball back too many times instead of taking a chance of hitting the ball up top and try something different. Lionel Messi does not give full effort as once he did. Make any excuses all you want, the bottom line, Messi is now a poacher only. Hopefully, the desire results returns. Iniesta has not made a single definitive play of any kind in over a year. He is a legend, but his game is in crisis. Cesc and Alexis, please! The play pass with the opposition goal keeper. Pique, Jaci Masc, please! This FCB club, as current, is plain and simple an average club.

About Milan, Robinho and Muntari missed a great opportunity to score and receive an assist, respectively. Too bad their chances did not convert into goals and 3 points for them. Anyway, I’m glad to see most of the team back, but they are still missing Sciglio in defense and Pazzini in attack. Get better soon guys! Now, just waiting for Rami to start playing in January and I hope he does more in defense than what Matri has done up front.
